I am currently a senior at a small liberal arts college in Michigan. currently I am living and working in chicago and have loved my time here thus far. I am pursuing my CPA license and will take the exam within a year. I am hoping to land a summer internship in the chicago area. I am leaning away from the Big 4 and other public accounting firms because I feel that I would be just another face in the crowd. I think I could be more valuable to a company within their accounting department. I have interviewed with companies like Herman Miller, Steelcase, and Gordon Foods, but have had no luck yet. If anyone has a suggestion or advice I would greatly appreciate a response

I would seriously look into University of Dreams. They host their summer program in Chicago. They’ll get you an internship that you won’t be able to obtain on your own. It’s a real foot in the door especially if you work hard to network during your 8 weeks. I participated in their Los Angeles program last summer and I was offered a job with the PR company that I interned for.
